Podripsko metropolis in the arc of the river Elbe. One of the oldest Czech towns, the place, where Jan Hus was probably ordained a priest. After the Hussite wars the royal town, the sphere of the Rosenbergs and later the Lobkowicz family. The Vienna - Praha - Dresden - Berlin railway transit corridor passes through the town.
